MANILA, Philippines – Nissan closed May 2018 as the third best-selling brand in the Philippine automotive industry, moving up one position compared to April.

This ranking, based on the Philippine Automotive Industry Report for May, is the highest ever for Nissan since it began operations in the country in 2014. It also marks a 48% percent sales increase in comparison to May 2017.

Sales in May 2018 were driven by the Nissan Navara, accounting for 50% of the brand's total performance for the month. This was followed by the Nissan Urvan with 28% of sales and the Nissan Almera with 17%.

"We are very proud to have reached this milestone," says Ramesh Narasimhan, president and managing director for Nissan in the Philippines. "This is the result of listening carefully to our customers' needs. We will bring more innovative products and after-sales services to more customers around the country."

Nissan's entry into the mid-size SUV segment is expected to support the brand's continued growth in 2018. Last May, Nissan premiered the new Nissan Terra in South East Asia at an event in Clark, Pampanga.

Nissan has recently opened new dealerships in Dumaguete, Butuan, and Batangas. All of Nissan's dealerships are fitted with Nissan's global retail visual identity called the Nissan Retail Environment Design Initiative (NREDI), and have dedicated end-to-end customer service programs, such as a 30-minute preventive maintenance Express Service.
