"We are proud of being able to offer our valuable Thai customers, who are at the heart of everything we do, such a diverse range of vehicles to meet their lifestyles and requirements," said Antoine Barthes, President of Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd. "Nissan Intelligent Mobility and EVs can positively impact and improve air quality issues - something we have recently faced here in Bangkok. Our approach is to deliver more electrification, more connectivity, and ultimately more autonomy to move people to a better world," he said.

The New Nissan LEAF, the icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, is also in the spotlight this year. The world's best-selling electric vehicle, which has found over 340,000 owners in nearly 50 countries around the world, will be a strong focus as it highlights Nissan's vision towards zero-emissions mobility in Thailand.

"We have announced that we will be bringing the Nissan LEAF to Thailand in FY18. That decision is the right one, as is borne out by the findings of a study by Frost & Sullivan on the Future of Electric Vehicles in South East Asia. The detailed Thai report found that there is significant latent demand for EVs in Thailand, and that 44% of respondents would undoubtedly consider EVs when they made their next purchase decision," Barthes said.

Compared to other regional markets, the intention to purchase EVs was found to be among the highest in Thailand, with prospective customers also ready to pay up to 50% more to own an EV than the comparable conventional car, he added.
