JAKARTA, Indonesia – Nissan in Indonesia today confirmed the 15-day countdown to the Indonesia launch of the all-new Nissan Kicks e-POWER has started. This will make Indonesia one of the first nations to have Nissan's proprietary e-POWER technology, created to give the smooth and powerful acceleration of an electric vehicle (EV), without the need for external charging. By combining a 100% electric motor with a petrol engine to charge the battery, e-POWER provides quiet yet powerful driving, with strong fuel-efficiency.

The all-new Nissan Kicks e-POWER will be the first e-POWER model available for the customers in Indonesia, with this advanced technology serving as the bridge to EV adoption in Indonesia.

"In 15 days, Nissan will change Indonesia's car industry. The ground-breaking e-POWER technology launch here signifies a new era in Nissan's bringing the best, innovative technology to our customers. e-POWER is a world-first technology and represents the daring next electrification step in Indonesia," says Isao Sekiguchi, president director of Nissan in Indonesia. "Nissan's challenger spirit allows us to disrupt mobility conventions – for an electrified future. This new model launch is a result of our attitude daring to do what others don't, and testament to our ongoing commitment to customers in Indonesia."

Inspired to provide technology that moves humanity forward, e-POWER will serve as unique mobility solution for Indonesian customers. Recently named 'Technology of the Year' by the Automotive Researchers' and Journalists' Conference of Japan, Nissan's e-POWER powertrain technology was an instant hit after launch in Japan. The technology is derived from Nissan LEAF, the world's first mass market 100% electric vehicle, with more than 470,000 units sold globally to date. Unlike the BEV power system, e-POWER includes a gasoline engine with a power generator, an inverter, a battery, and an electric motor.

The wheels are completely driven by the electric motor, powered by the gasoline engine. The engine is not only charging the battery but also giving electricity, through the inverter, directly to the motor. When extra acceleration is required or when climbing a steep hill, the electric motor receives power from both the battery and the engine to enhance its performance. The technology additionally provides superior fuel efficiency and lower emissions, compared to a traditional internal combustion engine.

"Indonesia was strategically selected to introduce Nissan's famous e-POWER technology. It's the time to change the way we drive with a daring EV driving sensation. Just like this thrilling car, the launch event will give our Indonesian customers many surprises too. Let the countdown begin…" concluded Isao Sekiguchi.
