Nissan has demonstrated the power of its Patrol four-wheel drive vehicle in record-breaking style after it was driven to the title for Fastest time to ascend a 100 m sand dune by a car.
In an effort to illustrate the car's off-road ability, and preserve its reputation as a highly-capable, durable and reliable vehicle, the Patrol scaled the dune in a rapid 4.9 seconds.
The sandbank at Wadi Rum, Jordan had an intimidating slope of 49 degrees, but it was no match for the skilled off-road driver they employed for the challenge.
The car was supported by its Hill Start Assist function, as well as the Hydraulic Body Motion Control System which helps keep the vehicle stable on sandy tracks.
The title adds to the Nissan Patrol world record tally after a succesful attempt in 2013 saw the car earn the record for Heaviest aircraft pulled by a production car after it was used to haul a 170.91 tonne (376,792 lb) plane at Sharjah Airport, Sharjah, UAE.
Speaking of their impressive records, Nissan Middle East Managing Director, Samir Cherfan said: "Whether towing a huge plane or scaling a sand dune in record time, our Guinness World Records titles show that we continue to deliver on our promise of 'Innovation that Excites'."
