Bangkok – The new generation of electric vehicles are exhilarating, safe, clean and enjoyable to drive. This is the message at the forefront of the third instalment of Nissan's digital EV education series, aimed at addressing the perceived performance gap between electric vehicles (EVs) and conventional cars.
The video is released ahead of the seventh edition of Nissan Futures, taking place March 8-10 in Hong Kong. Nissan is gathering industry leaders, government officials and media to discuss how smart mobility can transform the way people drive and live.
Leading the discussion to demystify misconceptions around driving an EV are Tim Jarvis, Australian explorer and environmental scientist, and Naya Ehrlich-Adam, founder of sustainable food business Broccoli Revolution in Bangkok, Thailand. Following the previous discussions on charging and range, this time both teamed up to discuss questions on how does it really feel to drive an EV.
With an e-powertrain that generates instant torque, the new Nissan LEAF accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds, boosting exhilaration and performance. Coupled with extremely low vibrations, these elements combine to deliver a high quality, smooth and responsive drive.
The new Nissan LEAF is also equipped with the e-Pedal technology, allowing drivers to intuitively start, accelerate, slow down and stop the EV, with differing amounts of pressure applied to a single pedal. When the accelerator is fully released, even on steep uphill slopes, brakes will be applied automatically, bringing the car to a complete stop.
In stop-and-go city traffic, the e-Pedal reduces the need to shift from one pedal to the other, making driving simpler and more engaging. It also allows for sporty driving on winding roads, making the driving experience more exciting.
With a significantly quieter engine compared to conventional cars, the new Nissan LEAF enables the experience of gliding around in virtual silence, making rides more enjoyable for both driver and passenger. When combined with zero-tailpipe emissions, the new Nissan LEAF also inspires drivers to consider the potential benefits EVs can bring to our roads, especially in reducing air and noise pollution.
Safety is another feature that characterizes the Nissan LEAF, achieving a 5-star rating on both the EURO NCAP and JNCAP.
