• Showcases the world's best-selling electric vehicle Nissan LEAF and unique e-POWER technology
  • Facilitates public education about electric vehicle benefits and first-hand experience with Nissan's advanced technology

Jakarta – Nissan is bringing world-class electric vehicle (EV) innovation to the first-ever Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS). Held on the 4th and 5th of September at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, the brand will show its latest technologies demonstrating leadership in the electrification of mobility.

At the event, visitors can see the Nissan LEAF, the world's best-selling electric vehicle, and Nissan's innovative and unique e-POWER technology. Aligned with the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision to transform the way people live and drive, both vehicles demonstrate Nissan's more than 70 years of expertise in electric mobility.

"Nissan is at the forefront of electrification globally. We are bringing our experiences from more than 400,000 Nissan LEAFs sold across 51 markets to help advance electric vehicles adoption in Indonesia," said Isao Sekiguchi, president director of Nissan Indonesia.

"Electric vehicles help to reduce air and noise pollution, as well as dependence on fossil fuels. It benefits not only current society, but also future generations. Collaboration among automakers, governments and other stakeholders is key to accelerating electrification in Indonesia," he added.

Four in ten customers in Indonesia (41%) are open to the idea of buying an electric vehicle as their next car, a Nissan's commissioned research by Frost & Sullivan shows. However, the availability of charging stations and misconception around safety, reliability and driving range of electric vehicles are barriers to adoption.

Since the launch of the Nissan LEAF in 2010, the first mass-market EV, has become the world's best-selling EV. Nissan announced earlier this year that the new Nissan LEAF will be brought to Indonesia by 2020.

The second generation new Nissan LEAF is packed with advanced technologies for a more confident, more exciting and more connected drive. This includes the e-Pedal, allowing for one-pedal driving. These technologies are part of Nissan's vision for the future of mobility, Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

Also at the show, Nissan demonstrates its unique e-POWER technology at the motor show for the first time in Indonesia. e-POWER combines a 100% electric motor, with a gasoline engine to charge the battery. As the wheels are always powered by the electric motor, it thereby gives customers the EV driving experience with instant acceleration, without the need to charge.

The Nissan booth is located in the indoor and outdoor locations of the Indonesia Electric Motor Show at Balai Kartini, Jakarta from 4-5 September 2019.
