JAKARTA – Nissan has officially delivered a donation to support people affected by  the recent earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia's Central Sulawesi. The donation of 1 Billion IDR (USD 68,000) has been delivered through the Ministry of Industry, to support the government's plan of supplying water purifiers to the people.

"Our sympathy and concerns are for the victims and those who survived the effects of the earthquake and tsunami, including our very own colleagues from Nissan Palu dealership. Our deepest condolences go to the people in the areas who were affected by this natural disaster. We will continue to extend our full support to them," said Alan Caugant, Vice President for sales and dealer network development of Nissan in Indonesia.

Nissan's priority is to ensure the well-being of its employees and their families and supporting local communities. Nissan support of the Ministry of Industry's plan to supply AMMDes Penjernih Air water purifiers  underpins the post disaster water needs of 15 liters per person per day.

"We support the government's actions to give access for clean and drinkable water, because water is an immediate needs for human. We feel that this program not only answers to the immediate needs, but sustainably, because the society can utilize it for longer period," explained Alan. "Our heartfelt thanks to Ministry of Industry for making it possible for us to deliver tangible benefits tothose in need."

The Ministry of Industry will supply four water purifier vehicles to Palu, Donggala, Sigi and greater Sulawesi as well as other regions that have been impacted by the natural disaster.

"The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Industry thanks the participation of Nissan, as Corporate Social Responsibility and humanitarian responsibility from Nissan to Indonesia," said Airlangga Hartarto, Ministry of Industry.

Nissan has conducted the company's first donation in early October through its dealer partner, Indomobil Group (IMG) focusing on helping the employees of affected people at its dealership in Palu and their families.
