• New 1.2-litre DIG Turbo petrol engine added to JUKE range
  • Iconic design enhanced with styling changes reinforcing sporty crossover DNA
  • Rear luggage capacity in two-wheel-drive grades improved by 40 per cent

MELBOURNE, Australia – The 2015 Nissan JUKE is now on-sale in Australia.

Still unique and utterly original in design, the new JUKE confirms Nissan's position of strength in the SUV/crossover market, introducing a host of exciting and innovative new technology and styling features.

Thanks to its combination of highly individual looks, strong driving dynamics and sophisticated interior equipment, JUKE has recorded over 500,000 sales globally since its launch in 2010. All JUKE models sold in Australia are built at the Nissan facility in Sunderland, UK.

The 2015 JUKE features a new design at the front and rear with greater emphasis on both premium refinement and sporty design cues.

To give even more attitude to the look of the JUKE, customers can add accessories from the myJUKE range to personalise' their car.

Exterior

Bold design has always set the JUKE apart from any rival, offering a mixture of crossover toughness with sporting appeal.

At the front, the upper lamps have been redesigned to adopt the Nissan's signature boomerang' shape – as seen on 370Z and QASHQAI – and now incorporate bi-intensity LED daytime running lamps while the headlamps in the Ti-S model now have Xenon bulbs and new lens covers for better visibility. The grille incorporates the Nissan V-Motion' brand signature while the front has been toughened with new and more robust trim beneath the bumper.

Door mirrors have been revised in all grades to include LED side turn strip repeaters and the Ti-S grade's mirrors are fitted with cameras for the Around View® Monitor (AVM).

The rear bumper has a more aggressive shape to match the new revised boomerang tail lamps with LED light guide technology, giving the new look JUKE a more distinctive appearance at night.

The new colour palette now extends to seven colours and adds three new shades, including Bumblebee' yellow, Magnetic' red and Ink' blue.

A new range of wheels completes the exterior revisions, with 17-inch alloys available on all variants.

Safety and Equipment

With the Ti-S models, the NissanConnect™ telematics system now offers smartphone connectivity with access to a variety of apps ranging from social media platforms to entertainment including internet radio through a large, 5.8-inch colour touch screen. The latest generation satellite navigation system integrates with Google® online search to reveal a host of useful information from weather forecasts to the location of fuel stations, hotels, restaurants and many other points of interest.

A send-to-car function also allows drivers to search for their destination at home and send route instructions to the NissanConnect system at the click of a button. The system includes Bluetooth® audio streaming and mobile phone integration as well as Aux-in and USB slots.

When not in infotainment mode, the screen doubles as a monitor for the newest version of Nissan's pioneering AVM, which gives a complete real-time 360 degree helicopter' view around the car to make manoeuvring as safe and easy as possible.

Using the AVM cameras together with sensors, radar and other advanced technology, JUKE's Safety Shield incorporates a number of features engineered to make the car as safe as possible. These include Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Moving Object Detection, which gives visual and audible warnings to avoid potential collisions.

The JUKE Ti-S also features DAB+ Digital Radio, leather accented seat trim, front heated seats, push button start and Intelligent Key with remote keyless access.

Practicality

Changes have also been made to the shape of the boot area in two-wheel drive models to boost luggage space by an impressive 40 per cent, taking the overall capacity to 354 litres. Versatility is further enhanced with a flat folding rear seat, making it easier to load large objects, while the inclusion of a two-stage floor in the luggage area makes the space even more flexible.

Three engines choices

Australian customers will now have a choice of three engines in the 2015 JUKE range.

The Renault–Nissan Alliance-developed, Euro5 compliant 1.2-litre DIG-T petrol engine is an advanced turbocharged direct injection engine delivering 85kW and generating 190Nm of torque as it appears in the JUKE ST manual grade.

Despite its modest size, the 1.2-litre (1197cc) turbocharged engine packs a real punch, offering sharper acceleration and greater torque at low RPM.

Its lower weight, standard automatic Stop/Start feature and more fuel-efficient operation translates into cleaner and more economical performance. The 1.2 DIG-T engine emits 129g/km of CO2^ and has a fuel consumption figure of 5.6 l/100km^.

The existing 1.6 DIG-T petrol unit has been further improved to deliver lower end torque below 2,000rpm. Producing 140kW, it is already Euro5 compliant with target emissions of 139g/km of CO2^ for the Ti-S 2WD manual version. Among its new features are a higher compression ratio (increased from 9.5 to 10.5:1), improved low friction technologies and cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation.

The 1.6 DIG-T petrol unit is also available with a Xtronic transmission gearbox in the Ti-S 4WD version. This gearbox has been refined further to improve fuel efficiency, acceleration and all-round performance.
The ever-popular JUKE ST Xtronic grade is still available in the smooth and efficient 1.6-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Standard across the range, Nissan Dynamic Control is an advanced driver control system giving the choice of three different driving modes - Normal, Sport or Eco - along with instant driving information and vehicle setting controls.

Engines in summary:

JUKE ST 2WD manual  1.2L DIG-T  85kW / 190Nm
JUKE ST 2WD Xtronic  1.6L  86kW / 158Nm
JUKE Ti-S 2WD manual  1.6L DIG-T 140kW / 240Nm
JUKE Ti-S AWD Xtronic  1.6L DIG-T  140kW / 240Nm

Torque Vectoring System (JUKE Ti-S Xtronic)

As before, the JUKE also offers customers the option of all-wheel-drive with Nissan's ALL-MODE 4x4i transmission. Available with the JUKE Ti-S Xtronic powertrain, the system features Nissan's acclaimed Torque Vectoring System (TVS) to prevent understeer and improve traction.

As well as splitting torque front to rear – up to a maximum of 50:50 – it can also be split from side-to-side across the rear axle. Information collected by various sources (measuring wheel speed, steering angle, yaw rate and lateral G) is interpreted to anticipate the driver's intention.

Cornering ability is enhanced by increasing torque to the outside rear wheel, reducing understeer. The system quickly and faithfully follows direction change commands from the driver – whether cornering or lane changing. Under cornering, the system increases power to the outer wheel, the left-right difference adding yaw momentum to the vehicle and helping the car follow its intended course.

New Xtronic Transmission (JUKE Ti-S Xtronic)

The new Xtronic gearbox included in the JUKE Ti-S AWD grade delivers a smooth and natural driving experience. The new transmission now offers an improved gear ratio spread, with 17 per cent more coverage than the old unit. This is effectively like adding more gears to a conventional transmission and improves acceleration at low speed while increasing refinement and economy at cruising speeds.

Efficiency has also been improved by reducing internal friction by 40 per cent. The result is a transmission that offers the best of both worlds, with crisp performance under high acceleration and smooth delivery when the pace slows.
