ZAMBALES, Philippines – Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) continues to promote local tourism in time for the summer season through a media drive to Zambales with the new Nissan Almera. Done under the "Visit the Philippines, Drive to Discover with Nissan" program in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) through the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), DOT's marketing and promotions arm, the event saw a fleet of new Nissan Almeras take on the scenic roads of Zambales to celebrate the Labor Day weekend last April 30 to May 1, 2016.

"We at Nissan are excited to hit the road again and discover new destinations with the new Nissan Almera." said SJ Huh, NPI's General Manager for Marketing "Region 3, particularly the Zambales area, offers a wealth of options by way of scenic destinations and interesting activities, such as clear waters, virgin beaches, organic farms, and heritage sites. And what better way to enjoy all of this than by going for a drive in the spacious, comfortable new Nissan Almera with our friends from the media?"

The fleet of new Nissan Almeras took off on an early Saturday morning from Ortigas, Pasig, after loading all bags and other equipment into the vehicle's spacious rear compartment.

As the fleet made its way to the Subic Bay International Freeport Zone for their first stop of the day, the best-in-class cabin space proved to be more than enough for both driver and passengers to take on the extended drive comfortably.

After a short stopover at the Vista Marina Hotel in Subic, the fleet then took off for Pundaquit, Zambales, for lunch at Anawangin Cove followed by a visit to Capones Island, an unspoiled beach in one of the many islands in the area. Though the sun was high, the new Nissan Almera's iconic Nissan cooling system, along with the rear comfort fans that channel cool air to the rear cabins, ensured that the guests experienced no discomfort during the drive. The virgin beaches of both Anawangin and Capones became the perfect backdrop for the party to relax and bond in celebration of the summer season. The day capped off with dinner and drinks at the Vista Marina Hotel.

The following morning was spent exploring the sites within Subic, beginning with the exciting Tree Top Adventure Park. Situated within the forest of Subic, the park offered zipline rides, forest trekking, a jungle survival demo, and other outdoors activities. Afterwards, the group headed to the Magic Lagoon Restaurant for a hearty lunch.

The group then headed to Castillejos, Zambales to visit the ancestral home of former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay. The Ramon Magsaysay Ancestral House is one of the region's most iconic sites as it gives a glimpse into the life of the country's seventh president, who was a proud Zambaleno. During his term, he was able to establish a number of reforms that helped the country's trade and industry flourish, garner international awards for sports, foreign affair, and culture, and become of the cleanest, least-corrupt governments in Asia, leading to his time as president to be called the "Golden Years of the Philippines."

Before driving back to Manila, guests made a short visit to Rosa Farms, in San Marcelino Zambales. A 12.5-hectre mango orchard, Rosa Farms is known for producing some of the sweetest mangoes in the region, as well organic vegetables like tomatoes and chili peppers. After some afternoon snacks, and a quick tour of the farm, guests were invited to pick their own vegetables to take home. Despite the additional baggage, the new Nissan Almera's best-in-class cargo space was able to comfortably accommodate the trips harvest.

After an exciting Labor Day weekend in Zambales, the party was ready to head back to Manila. The long drive home was made easier and more relaxing by the new Nissan Almera's comfortable features, including adjustable rear headrests, a fold-down rear arm rest in addition to the generous cabin space and cool air conditioning.

The new Nissan Almera is available in all Nissan dealerships for test-driving and outright sale, while the "Visit the Philippines, Drive to Discover with Nissan" is on its pilot run and will continue until October 2016.  The program will be jointly spearheaded by NPI and TPB with monthly road trips with members of the media to various destinations that will be set by the TBP.
