JAKARTA – One of Nissan-Datsun Indonesia's youngest technicians has taken gold at the ASEAN Skill Competition XII, the most prestigious vocational competition in the region.

Mustaqim, 20 year old, won gold medal as first prize in the automobile technology category, after demonstrating his skills to judges in petrol engine tuning, steering, suspension and brake systems, electrical systems, engine mechanics and automatic transmissions.

"Congratulations to Mustaqim, whose skills as a technician have been recognized for their high quality. He is an example of our commitment to providing consistent, superior and diverse services at every level for our customers," said Alan Caugant, vice president of sales and dealer development for Nissan in Indonesia.

Mustaqim, a technician at Nissan-Datsun Harapan Indah, in Bekasi, West Java province, said the experience has motivated him to work even harder to develop his skills.

"This is a valuable experience. As well as meeting colleagues from other countries, this experience has inspired me to continue on with my passion and accelerate my skills for my customers," he said.

The ASC XII 2018 was held in Bangkok, Thailand from August 27 until September 4, 2018.

Other Nissan-Datsun technicians also won various achievements in previous ASC event, such as, Gold medal for ASC IX 2012 (Agung Mahendra, Nissan-Datsun Halim), winning a 4th position for ASC X 2014 (Royani, Nissan-Datsun Harapan Indah), Bronze Medal for ASC XI 2016 (Abdul Aziz, Nissan Datsun Halim).

The competition is held every two years for vocational tradespeople under the age of 23. Organized by the governments of ASEAN countries, the competition judges the skill and capability of entrants in different categories.
