Jakarta – Nissan recently showcased the world's best-selling electric vehicle Nissan LEAF and e-POWER technology at events in Indonesia. Visitors of PLN Jakarta Langit Biru and Bank Central Asia Expo 2019 learned first-hand how electrification of mobility has the power to transform the way people drive and live.

Isao Sekiguchi, President Director of Nissan Indonesia explained: "Demonstrating the Nissan LEAF and unique e-POWER technology helps create awareness and excitement of the benefits of electrified mobility in Indonesia. We are thrilled to be joined by PLN and BCA, two of Indonesia's prominent companies, in our efforts to drive this transformation."

At the Jakarta Langit Biru convoy held on October 27, 2019, Nissan demonstrated the new Nissan LEAF. Since 2010, Nissan has sold more than 430,000 units of Nissan LEAF and it's set to be introduced to Indonesia in 2020. The event was held by electric utility company PLN as part of a campaign to increase the use of eco-friendly vehicles and reduce carbon emissions in Jakarta.

Moreover, it was part of a series of campaigns for the FIA Formula E Tournament to be held in Jakarta next year. 400 participants from across the public and private sectors joined the convoy. The event was submitted to the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) as a convoy involving the most types of EVs to date.

On the same weekend, Nissan also exhibited its Note e-POWER at BCA Expo 2019, held by BCA in partnership with Sinar Mas Land on October 26 – 27, 2019 at ICE BSD City. The exhibition is an annual event by BCA that brings together the automotive sector, property sector, and the bank's subsidiaries into a single exhibit. e-POWER is Nissan's proprietary technology that provides the EV driving experience but without the need to charge.

"We value collaborations with key stakeholders across various sectors, and in working together to fully implement electrified mobility in Indonesia," Sekiguchi added.

Earlier this year, Nissan's EV lineup was showcased at GAIKINDO Indonesia International Motor Show (GIIAS) and the Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS). The company has also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PLN to accelerate electric vehicle adoption and boost electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.

"While much education and awareness raising is required to introduce this relatively new technology, we believe that with continuous efforts, it is not long until we will see increased use of electric vehicles in the country," Sekiguchi closed.
