JAKARTA – Nissan today announced the appointment of Isao Sekiguchi as the new President Director for Nissan Motor Indonesia effective December 01, 2018. Sekiguchi will be based in Jakarta and will report to Vincent Wijnen, Senior Vice President & Head of Sales & Marketing, Nissan Motor Asia Pacific. Vincent will assume concurrent responsibility to provide the necessary interim support.
Eiichi Koito, President Director of Nissan Motor Indonesia, will return to his parent company Mitsubishi Motors to assume an important role at their HQ in Japan.
In his new role, Sekiguchi will be responsible for developing business strategies to maximize Nissan's overall performance, managing product introduction and significantly increasing the presence and accessibility of the Nissan brand in pursuit of its ambition to be a major player in the country's automotive sector. He will also have oversight of the manufacturing of the plant in Indonesia.
"Isao Sekiguchi has a consistent record of high performance and extensive experience in automotive industry and in Nissan. I am happy to have a strong leader like him join us to accelerate Nissan's progress in a dynamic market like Indonesia," said Yutaka Sanada.
Sekiguchi joined Nissan in 2014 and worked in Africa, Middle East and India region. His current role is regional vice president with primary responsibility to create and implement a strategy for the region to achieve mid-long term growth, as well as to explore opportunities with alliance partners (Renault and Mitsubishi Motors) in the region. Before that, he was managing director for Nissan North Africa and Egypt overseeing strategies and overall performance including manufacturing plant in Cairo. Prior to Nissan, he worked with major Japanese trading house Sumitomo Corp. for 20 years in the automotive business sector.
Sekiguchi has masters in business administration from Darden Business School, University of Virginia and bachelor in international relations from University of Tsukuba.
