Nissan Brunei exclusively held a sneak preview on 12th December 2023 for existing X-Trail customers in Nissan Showroom, Beribi. This sneak preview proudly presents an all-new 4th Generation X-Trail e-Power exclusively shown only to X-trail customers as a customer appreciation event for their loyalty and passion.
Mr. Han Ming Kwang, Marketing Manager of Nissan gave an opening speech highlighting an all-new technology in e-Power that will transform how people will drive. e-Power is the solution for EV where public can enjoy 100% electric driving without the hassle of finding charging stations. This all-new Nissan X-Trail are meant for family adventures and with ePower, public will be able to tackle on any road adventures going to Sabah and Sarawak without the need of charging while able to enjoy EV driving benefits of power, comfort, and quietness.
The All-New Nissan X-Trail
e-Power
e-POWER is Nissan's unique electric-drive powertrain that integrates a gasoline engine and motor. Since the engine only generates electricity and the system is 100% driven by a highoutput motor, it is possible to enjoy the driving experience of an EV. e-POWER utilizes motor control technology cultivated in past EV development activities, powertrain integration technology, and energy management technology. By changing the combination of electricdrive motors and power-generation engines, it delivers quiet driving with excellent response over a wide range of vehicles from compact cars to minivans and SUVS.
System Operation
Since e-POWER is 100% motor-driven, it provides a responsive and powerful driving experience, by taking advantage of the characteristic that the motor can generate maximum torque from when it starts.
The system can freely control engine start timing because the engine is not directly connected to the wheels. It provides very quiet driving with reduced engine operation time by driving the vehicle with just the motor from start to low/mid-range speed and starting the engine and generating electricity in fast speed areas with elevated road noise. It also achieves low fuel consumption because it generates electricity at efficient engine RPM.
e-40rce
e-40RCE is an electric-drive four-wheel-control system that freely controls driving force via integrated control of the two front and rear high-output motors and brakes.
e-40RCE is a new drive system that incorporates the 4WD control technologies, chassis control technologies, and electrification technologies that Nissan has long developed.
From everyday driving to winding and slippery roads, this unprecedented system improves all types of driving, providing powerful, high-quality, and responsive driving.
e-40RCE detects slight tire slippages and determines grip limits while driving. By calculating driving force that realizes turning, acceleration, and deceleration according to the driver's operation and then controlling the front and rear motors and the left and right brakes in an integrated manner, the system controls driving force to maximize the grip of the four wheels. Compared to conventional mechanical 4WD that can only vary the distribution of driving force up to 50:50 due to their structure, a 4WD system with motors on each of the front and rear wheels has the potential to freely change the driving force from 100:0 to 0:100. By combining this with braking control, the driving force on the left and right can be changed, and the driving force on all four wheels can be controlled at high speed and with high precision.
Drivetrain
The all-new Nissan X-trail is now equipped with a 1.5L 3-cyclinder 1<R15 VC-turbo engine that is fuel efficient and it powers the generator to produce electricity to charge the battery. Directly, the battery will then provide electricity to both motors in driving the wheels. This results in a responsive and quiet driving sensation without the need of charging. This will also enhance the fuel economy of the vehicle.
There are 5 selectable drive modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow & Off-Road) to allow drivers to tackle any situations and maintain high efficiency when facing different road conditions. With the all-new e40rce technology, the all-new Nissan X-trail can now handle better to avoid oversteering and understeering with the precise calculation of the motors to ensure an always smooth ride.
e-Pedal is also present to give a more fun driving experience by releasing the stress of the driver's foot through a one-pedal experience. This new intuitive way to drive is unique only to Nissan that gives you the option to accelerate and decelerate effectively with just the accelerator pedal meanwhile leaving the pedal for harder braking and coming to a complete stop.
Exterior
Nissan X-Trail bears the familiar signature V-motion 2.0 black front grille that gives the vehicle both an adventurous yet premium look. The Nissan X-Trail now comes with a 2-tier headlamp design with separated LED Day Running Lights and headlamps. The Nissan X-Trail also comes with a front chrome skid that prevents the undercarriage of the vehicle that accelerates the tough look in the vehicle.
The Nissan X-Trail is 4680mm in Length, 1840mm in Width, 1725mm in Height and is equipped with a generous 2705mm in Wheelbase to ensure the spaciousness in the car. The Nissan X-Trail comes with a 19inch alloy rim with 235/55R19 tyres. It also comes with roof rails and an electric sunroof that makes adventures even more exciting.
In this new generation, Nissan X-Trail has a rear door opening of 85" that is wide enough for easy access for either items, humans or even animals.
Nissan X-trail also has a power tailgate.
Interior
Nissan X-Trail maintained the 5+2 leather seat configuration like the previous 4WD generation to ensure that seats are available in case when required. This seat configuration allows a 40/20/40 split folding second row seat with manual recline that is versatile enough for families to store items in different sizes and lengths.
The all-new Nissan X-trail now comes with a 12.3" A-IVI with integrated Navigation Touchscreen Display that allows Apple Carplay and Android Auto and 6 speakers to ensure entertainment is present for any adventures. Besides that, Nissan X-Trail also has 4 USB ports to ensure electronic devices can charge on the go for the front & rear passengers.
Nissan X-Trail has a 3-zone air conditioning that everyone can enjoy air conditioning temperatures of their own choice and the 2 row seats now have access to built-in rear door sunshades that are convenient especially in warm countries like Brunei.
ISOFIX is also present on the second-row seats for car seat tethering.
Safety
An Intelligent Around View Monitor with moving object detection allows drivers to be aware of its surroundings and front & rear parking sensors are present to improve that scenario. Other than that, Nissan X-Trail also comes with Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, High Beam Assist, Front Collision Warning and Forward Emergency Braking that gives 100% confidence in drivers while driving on roads.
Nissan X-Trail is equipped with both front and rear ventilated disc brakes to ensure top-notch braking performance. It also comes with Hill Start Assist & Hill Descent Control that supports the driving experience when facing a hill or slope.
Nissan X-Trail also comes with 6 standard airbags.
